Five of us came to visit Lauriston Farm after Spencer taught an “introduction to biodynamics” workshop, as part of our urban food growing course with Food from the Sky. We were enchanted by biodynamics after this one-day workshop and jumped at the chance to visit the farm.
Spencer began by telling us the history of the farm; how his family came to be on the land and the steps they took to create environments that would encourage wildlife to return to the area – a fascinating story!
We then had a tour, met the resident charismatic sheep, and learned about the many birds that make their home there. There are a couple of historical sites and our knowledgeable host told us how the land was used back to Roman times.
There is a definite vibrancy and magic to Lauriston Farm that I think we all felt. From the plants to the animals, all seem happy and thriving. The visit was informative, engaging and really taught me that abundance is created through diversity and working in harmony with Nature’s flow. We left under the arc of a double rainbow, the perfect finish to an inspiring day!
